How I Do It
Discover my teaching methodology and what makes every session special
Learning That Feels Like Play
My teaching methodology is built on one simple truth: children learn best when they're engaged, curious, and having fun. That's why every session I deliver is carefully designed to feel more like an adventure than a lesson.
I draw on over 21 years of classroom experience to understand what truly works. Traditional drilling and repetition have their place, but lasting learning happens when children make genuine connections with what they're studying.
Whether we're exploring phonics through silly songs, tackling times tables with games, or crafting creative stories together, every activity has a clear learning purpose wrapped in genuine enjoyment.
Truly Personalised Learning
No two children are alike, and no two learning journeys should be either. Before we begin, I take time to understand your child - not just their academic level, but their interests, learning style, and what makes them tick.
Does your child love dinosaurs? We'll use them to explore maths problems. Obsessed with football? That becomes our context for reading comprehension. By connecting learning to what children already care about, concepts stick and motivation soars.
I continuously assess and adapt my approach based on how each session goes. If something isn't clicking, I have dozens of alternative strategies ready. If a child is flying ahead, I know how to stretch and challenge them further.
Building Unshakeable Confidence
Academic success means nothing if a child doesn't believe in themselves. That's why confidence-building is woven into everything I do. I celebrate effort, not just achievement. I praise the process, not just the result.
Many children come to me having already decided they're “bad at maths” or “can't spell.” Part of my job is gently dismantling these limiting beliefs and replacing them with a growth mindset - the understanding that abilities can be developed through dedication and hard work.
I create a safe space where mistakes are welcomed as learning opportunities. When children stop fearing failure, they become willing to take risks, ask questions, and push beyond their comfort zone.
